Daily Fantasy Sports – NBA Opponent Defensive Matchup Adjustment

By: Bryan Povlinski on February 6, 2013

When you’re selecting your team each day on sites like Fanduel it’s helpful to know how difficult of an opposing matchup he has for the night. There’s a big difference in picking a center when he’s going up against Tyson Chandler, one of the best defensive big men in the NBA, or when he’s going up against the relatively weak defense of Kosta Koufos and Javale McGee of the Denver Nuggets. The way to read this chart is to add the number of points listed here to the player of interests’ average. So if Dwyane Wade is playing against he Memphis Grizzlies and the Memphis SG average is -2 you would expect Wade to score 2 fantasy points less than his average in this matchup. Hopefully this helps you make those last few tough lineup decisions. This tool will be updated every week throughout the NBA season. Let me know of any improvement suggestions in the comments!
